CM Blog Circle - Week 9 Photographers Choice

This week our blog circle has the theme Photographers choice. I decided to try a very soft, light almost dreamlike feel for my photographs this week. I haven't experimented much with backlighting so I thought this week would be a good opportunity to have a play. I purchased a cut off piece of fabric and hung it over my patio doors. My daughter adores her teddy 'Woof Woof' and he had to feature in every image! I was actually happy with this as Woof Woof is such a big part of Missy Moo's life that I wanted to capture her love for him. She shows such motherly instincts towards Woof Woof which I think this photo portrays.

CM Blog Circle - Week 8 (Low Light)

This week our theme is low light.  I love light, airy photographs so to come up with something in low light felt like a real challenge this week! I do enjoy these type of themes as they push me to take better photographs. I wanted to capture the light falling onto the fall to give the image a bit of interest.

My children have started placing their shoes next to their dads when they come in the house. My husband says it melts his heart when he goes to put his shoes on and finds two extra little pairs next to his. I wanted to photograph this to remind us of these special moments in years to come.

CM Blog - Week 6 Side Light

When this weeks theme was announced I thought 'oh okay, that's easy. I often shoot with a side light at 45-90 degree angle'. This week I wanted to challenge myself. A lot of my photos are very light and bright (I often over expose) so I wanted to do something a bit more dramatic with the light. I have loved this week, even though on the final day I got a bit annoyed that it wasn't working for me! It has really made me look at the light in my house and how I can manipulate it to create a shot. Cookie wasn't the most willing model but with a few biscuits I finally managed to get her to sit! I used a dark blanket behind her, switched off all the lights and closed the blinds in the lounge except for one.
It's different for me and something I will try to perfect.

Living Arrows Week 6/52

After a newborn photoshoot this week the children enjoyed using my backdrop paper to create their own artwork! It was very messy but lots of fun. They ended up with paint all over their faces, bodies and my bathroom.

CM Blog - Week 5 (Candid)

This weeks theme for the blog circle is Candid, I was excited to see this theme as I love natural lifestyle photography. I did however find it harder than I thought to capture either of my children without them noticing or moving away! The weather here this week has been rubbish so we have been in more than I like. I took this photo of Missy Moo whilst she was playing fuzzy felt. It is by no means a technically perfect image but I just adore her little hands in her lap. I love the concentration in her face as she makes the very important decision of which piece to select next! I love photographing the everyday and this photo is just that.

Please pop by and see Michele's candid photos to follow our circle.

Living Arrows 5/52 Best Friends

This afternoon my daughter was waiting for her friend to arrive for a playdate, she was so excited but it seams the dog was looking forward to our guest arriving too. Missy Moo's friend has just come down with Chicken Pox. As Missy Moo has already had it her friend came round to break up the boredom of being home poorly.

CM Blog Circle Week 4

I am super excited to be joining a group of very talented photographers for a 52 week project. The group consists of photographers who are professional, hobbiest, experienced and me the newbie photographer!! I'm hoping I can keep up with their standards but if I can't I will enjoy learning from them! Each week a new theme will be released and we have a week to interpret the theme.

This week the theme is 'My Town'.

We live in the UK in a small, friendly town. My children go to the same primary school as my husband attended. I met my husband in Middle School and many of our friends have also decided to stay local and raise their children here. There are lots of old people and not a lot happens! This week I decided to photograph the church that is in the centre of our town. If you go anywhere you go past the church as it sits on a crossroad with four sets of traffic lights.

Take a look at Dani's blog at Lilac Blossom for her great interpretation of the theme, she had the fantastic idea to create a postcard for her town!
